The Niagara Falls Chapter of the American Business Womens Association will hold thier annual Chinese Auction on Sunday April 25, 2010 at the Niagara Falls Country Club. The auction starts at 10:30 and will run all afternoon. Over 200 baskets will be displayed as well as a silent and special auction. Our beneficiary this year is the Niagara Arts and Cultural Center and our annual scholarship fund. Tickets are $35.00 presale and $40.00 at the door. The ticket includes lunch, a fashion show by Ann Taylor, and a door prize ticket. For tickets or to do donate, call Kari at 990-6801 or email info@abwaniagara.com.

Work. Life. Me! Retreat Seeks to Bring Balance to Working Mothers

February 17, 2010 – The Work. Life. Me! Balancing Retreat for Working Mothers (www.balanceworklifeme.com) was created by two working moms: Karen Renzi of Beyondus Design & Marketing and Denuelle Meyer of A Balancing Act Coaching. Meyer and Renzi focused the event on giving busy working mothers a getaway respite, paired with informative workshops. The retreat will be held on March 27-28, 2010, at the Center of Renewal at Stella Niagara, in Lewiston, NY, located about 30 minutes from Buffalo. Through February 28th, nominations to win a retreat giveaway will also be accepted on the website.

Unlike many other “getaway weekends” geared towards women, this retreat acknowledges the juggling act working mothers live out each day – and the extreme difficulty many have with feeling deserving of time and money investment in themselves. This is reflected not only in the affordable registration rate, but also through workshops which will give participants takeaways they can apply immediately toward more balance in their lives. Workshops include an introduction to the Law of Attraction, Organization 101, Kicking Super Mom Syndrome to the Curb, Eating for Mind Body Balance, and Finance for Women. Presenters are not only experts in their fields but working moms who bring real-life understanding to the table.

The retreat offers:

Workshops to give valuable techniques for balance including goal setting, organization, finance, and more.
A peaceful setting to unwind with other women – no expectations.
Creative outlets to tap into internal energies.
Optional extras including indoor pool, massage, and reflexology.

Organizers Meyer and Renzi expressed, “We hope that by taking this weekend retreat for self-care and reflection, our participants will feel more empowered and closer to that elusive work/life balance we all seek. We often don’t afford ourselves the time we need as working moms, not realizing that doing so allows us to be more present for those we love. Plus, we can’t wait to spend time with other fabulous women!”

ABWA Niagara’s 13th Annual Basket Auction and Luncheon will be held Saturday, March 14, 2009. Basket Preview at 11am, Lunch served at 12:30 with presentation to follow.

Tickets are available for $30 per person and include lunch and a starter sheet of basket tickets. Email info@abwaniagara.com to purchase tickets. Advance ticket purchase is requested as only a VERY limited number of tickets will be available at the door.

This much-anticipated annual event draws more than 200 guests and features over 100 baskets, a silent auction, and a special auction featuring showcase pieces such as diamond jewelry. A portion of the proceeds from the auction will benefit our 2009 selected charity: God’s Woman Vanessa Scott Outreach Ministries, a Niagara Falls-based organization which provides support to women in need, and also to our ABWA scholarship fund.
